We are grateful to Professor Riccardo Lattuada for having confirmed the attribution. Provenance: European private collection The present painting is a bozzetto for the altarpiece depicting the saints Herculanus, Hippolytus, and Taurinus Giaquinto executed for the church of the Ospedale San Giovanni Calibita on the Isola Tiberina in Rome. We consider it to be a first version, which was modified by Giaquinto in several details for the design to be presented to his patrons.
